Amarone della Valpolicella Selezione Vigna Macie DOCG 2016 - Massimago

About the wine

Blooming and beautiful landscapes in Veneto give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Massimago conjures up this red wine with refinement and sensitivity. There is something left over from Easter dinner every year. Do you know that? Why not invite your friends to a glass of wine in the afternoon to enjoy the festive meal once again and we recommend this dominant Corvina 2016 — Amarone della Valpolicella Selezione Vigna Macie DOCG. Flaschenpost team tip: Combine this Corvina with recent cheeses or hearty meat dishes.

Tasting note
This is the first vintage of an Amarone from a single vineyard of Massimago. Ruby red color, intense fruity notes of cherries, plums, spices and balsamic nuances on the nose. On the palate, the wine shows a lot of power and dynamism. Complex, very elegant and with a fresh finish.
Culinary recommendation
Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Amarone della Valpolicella Selezione Vigna Macie DOCG goes perfectly with roasts, hearty meat dishes and recent cheeses.
Vinification
Selective hand picking of the flawless grapes. The intact grapes are then stored in flat wooden boxes for 100 days to dry in specially designated drying rooms. After crushing the grapes, maceration lasts about 40 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in small barrels, followed by maturation for 30 months in large French oak barrels. The wine matures in the bottle for a further 12 months before it goes on sale. Only 1,233 bottles and 50 magnums were bottled.
