About the wine
Sassella is one of the five famous sites in Valtellina. In these terraced vineyards, the Nebbiolo grapes find the best conditions to fully mature. The result is complex wines with finesse, which, by the way, go perfectly with game dishes. What a price/pleasure ratio!
Tasting note
Thanks to consistent quality efforts, an elegant, full-bodied red wine is developed. A top crop with a fine vanilla tone and all the complex finesse of the Nebbiolo grape.
Culinary recommendation
It is best served with red meat, game dishes and mature cheeses.
Vinification
The Nebbiolo grapes for this wine grow on what is probably the most famous Veltliner rock terraces; the classic sites near Sondrio. It goes in barriques for six to eight months and then in oak barrels for a few years.
