San Giovanni Piglio Superiore DOCG 2020 - Abbia Nòva

About the wine

What is this wonderful landscape, an enclave south of Rome, surrounded by volcanic mountains, Piglio, like a Gaulish village, people live here, cultivate, preserve, by no one like by the two cousins Daniele and Pierluca Proietti, who have been practicing organic agriculture here since the 1980s, 20 ha, including 7 ha of wine, best Locations, each a unique terroir surrounded by olive groves, meadows and forests. Today, farming is carried out according to biodynamic principles, neither copper nor sulfur, certainly no pesticides, and even in the cellar, the greatest reluctance to use funds, sparing no effort. And this own spirit, which has been inherited and rooted over generations, the healthy conviction that is also contained in wines, how they live and shine, are own and independent in such a healthy way, is a wonderful pleasure. Everything is good and all their wines are soooo good! Drunk once, always in my heart

Tasting note
Earth goddess - who allows everything to grow together to beautiful perfection. What a scent of fertile soil, red fruits, plants, fresh leaves, warm spices all the richness, from the surface to deep into the soil, mineral. On the palate, this balance again, natural vegetable freshness, the red fruit, these earthy, brown tones, this yielding yet supportive structure, that has something so complete, healthy, there is such a glow and life in it. Natural wine, naturally beautiful!

Very selective harvest, fermentation of the destemmed berries with the vineyard's own yeasts, 20-day maceration period, malolactic fermentation and aging 1 year in oak wood, 1 month in 54l glass jugs. Unequated, unfiltered, minimal added sulphur
