About the wine
The winemaker from the Spanish winery Bodega Requiem Hispania has absolutely mastered his craft. Style and finesse are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the picturesque and graceful landscape of the Duero Valley (Castilla y Leon). With this fresh Tempranillo 2015 — Requiem Ribera del Duero DO, the term taste takes on a new meaning. The Flaschenpöstler promise a culinary experience when you serve this Tempranillo with red meat or polenta.
Tasting note
The Réquiem impresses with a strong ruby red with slightly violet reflections. The nose is dominated by elegant aromas of ripe raspberries, plums, some baked cherries, floral notes and southern spicy notes. On the palate, again, lots of concentrated fruit, paired with a silky palate flow and a perfect balance between velvety tannins and refreshing acid structure. A wine that can still slumber in the cellar for a few more years, but is also great fun even at a young age.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with Spanish specialities, lamb, beef, pork and barbecues, hearty game dishes and ripe hard cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes for the Réquiem come from the oldest plots of the winery, which are all planted with 70-120 year old vines. After manual harvesting, the grapes are fermented spontaneously at controlled temperatures. It is then aged for 18 months in new and one-year French barriques before the wine is aged in the bottle for at least another year. Only 15500 bottles and 300 magnums are produced annually.
