Pettenthal Riesling trocken Grosses Gewächs 2022 - Weingut St. Antony

About the wine

With experience and intuition, the winemaker from the German Weingut St. Antony masters this white wine in the sunny and picturesque landscape of the Rhine Valley. There is something left over from Christmas dinner every year. Do you know that? Why not invite your friends over for a glass of wine in the afternoon to enjoy the festive meal again and we recommend this biting white wine 2019. Culinary tip from Flaschenpöstler: This Riesling is ideal to serve with mushrooms or Asian food.

Tasting note
Riesling Pettenthal GG is extremely youthful and immediately impresses with a fantastic nose dominated by notes of peach and pineapple chutney. These inviting aromas are complemented by a subtle juiciness, which is accompanied by a range of spicy and nimble nuances. On the palate, there is mineral finesse and intensity, the ripe and well-concentrated fruit combines seamlessly with a fine, mineral-based juiciness. The finish of this wine is impressively long and leaves a lasting impression. Although this wine already promises great drinking pleasure, it also has enormous aging potential, which will certainly reveal further facets of its complexity in the coming years.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Pettenthal Riesling trocken Grosses Gewächs passt hervorragend zu Ente, Crevetten und Pilzen.
Vinification
Nestled in the core area of the Red Slope, the Pettenthal (10 hectares) is adjacent to the Rothenberg location in Nackenheim. Facing south-east, the slopes lean towards the Rhine and run along the river before the Pettenthal turns outwards like a nose towards Nierstein and then runs out in a small, south-facing side valley. In Pettenthal, the steepest slopes in Rheinhessen, bare red slate rock and plenty of sun well into the evening hours. The best grapes have always been ripening here for very exceptional wines.
