About the wine
The world-famous winemaker Álvaro Palacios (“L'Ermita”) has set up a bodega in Bierzo together with his nephew Ricardo. The two named the bodega “Descendants of J. Palacios” — in honor of Álvaro's father, who was of course also a winemaker.
Robert Parker: 93/100, James Suckling: 92/100
Tasting note
Reminiscent of a fine Pinot Noir in its tonality and freshness: red-berry nose, some black pepper, lively and delicate on the palate. A very pleasant, well-made wine, a real discovery!
Vinification
The fragrant Pétalos del Bierzo comes from mixed grape vines. In particular, the autochthonous Mencía, but also a few percent white grape varieties and a 10-month barrel aging contribute to this aromatic-fresh wine. Youthful, fresh yet velvety with the typical minerality of these terroir wines from Bierzo.
