About the wine
The winemaker from the South African winery Lourens Family greets us with this wine, which he grows in the countryside. Christmas 2018 is just around the corner! Make the most of it with this powerful Shiraz 2017 — Howard John! The Flaschenpöstler promise a dining experience when you serve this Shiraz with roasted vegetables or game.

Tasting note
Expressive aromas of red and black berries, oranges, olives, lavender and herbs. On the palate, a good fruit concentration, crisp acidity and crunchy tannins. Juicy at the beginning, spicy at the end, with the various components harmonizing well with each other.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with braised or briefly roasted lamb. It also goes very well with classic paella with crustaceans, poultry and rabbits.
Vinification
The Howard John, named after Franco Louren's father (Franco is Chris Alheit's wingman), is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah. The grapes all come from Swartland and the wine was fermented with a percentage of 60% whole grapes. The aging took place in old French barrels for 10 months.
