Gran Caus Reserva DO 2019 - Can Ràfols dels Caus

About the wine

Can Ràfols dels Caus is undoubtedly one of the most dynamic wineries in the Penedès region. Carlos Estevan took over the estate in the 1970s and has since steadily expanded to today's 50 ha and countless local and exotic grape varieties. From his almost unmanageable wine kingdom with mostly very small plots, Carlos conjures up fantastic and unique wines year after year. Vivid and vibrant wines, dervishes and belly dancing, wild herbs, and juicy fruits, and always lots of chalky minerality. You can hardly have enough of them, time and again they reveal a new side and at the same time they can be drunk with a lot of joy and drink, here the vines and the terroir speak, only very softly the wood.

Tasting note
Grande lady with erotic charisma. Serious, ripe, noble, formal, tea, herbs, limestone, licorice, then becomes increasingly private and seductive, ripe, sweet fruit, tonka bean, cocoa. Feminine and noble on the palate, soft, ripe, dark fruit, benevolent, mild tannins, formal again, tart, and a bit stricter, herbs. Wonderful Bordeaux blend with the severity of Cabernet Franc, the noble, dark structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the erotic, soft fruit of Merlot.
