About the wine
Bodegas Peñafiel, whose vineyards range from 750 to 900 meters, is located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. Every single bottle of the Bodegas contains a part of this region: The composition of the air, the intensity of the colors, the crackling dry heat of summer and the clammy scent of winter. The production of wines from low-yielding vines is limited in order to achieve a consistently high standard of quality from year to year. Peñafiel also owns vineyards in Rueda and Toro.
Tasting note
This wine is an innovative interpretation of the grape variety Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo), which is powerful here without losing its classic elegance. In the bouquet, ripe red fruit aromas (strawberry, blackberry and raspberry) and vanilla, as well as spicy notes that come from aging in the large oak barrels. The palate is fresh, tasty, powerful with a persistently long finish. Aging for 4 months in large French oak barrels, then a further 8 months in French oak barriques.
