Cornalin L'O de l'A VdP 2022 - Le Vin de l'A

About the wine

Evil tongues say about mountain valleys that people neither come out nor look. All you have to do to discover fantastic things is to take a look. To career changer Alex Stauffer in Valais, for example, who has switched from working on a screen to working in the vineyard. After only a short period of study and training, Alex founded Le Vin de L'A in Flanthey in 2018 with ½ ha of vines and since then, the now 3 ha have produced beguiling charismatic wines. No additives, with character. All work is carried out manually, in line with the lunar cycle and the terroir, so that additives such as sulfur are neither desired nor necessary. Oh what, the wines are as great as they are, anything else would be disruptive!

Tasting note
Postgraduate - young, joyfully critical identity. Courageously fresh, juicy, dark fruit, cherry in this still washed-out, vintage second-hand student look: also beetroots, natural, brown, unconventional notes with a playful intellectual touch: dark minerals that blend so beautifully with the fruit, even ash. Wonderfully playful low-budget elite on the palate, this juicy-fresh, young, dark red fruit paired with fresh-tart, dark and thus flaunted, indiscriminate intelligence: intense aromatic mix of fruit, minerality and herbs such as anise. There is so much play and life and everything is possible. What a passionate, intellectually humorous Cornalin.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler tip: Cornalin L'O de l'A VdP goes perfectly with light meat dishes, romanesco and piccata.
Vinification
Fermentation of the destemmed berries with the vineyard's own yeasts, short maceration period, aging in wooden barrels for 15 months. Minimal sulfurization, unfiltered.
