About the wine
A must for connoisseurs, this outstanding Nebbiolo 2013 — Barbaresco DOCG! The winemaker from the Italian winery Rizzi has absolutely mastered his craft. Elegance and refinement are the characteristics of this red wine, which originates in the flourishing and fertile countryside of Piedmont. Flaschenpöstler tip: Combine this Nebbiolo with burrata or prosciutto.
Tasting note
Spicy aromas of cinnamon, wild berries and blackcurrants, the soft, velvety start leads to a balanced middle section with a long-lasting, mineral finish.
Culinary recommendation
Wonderful with antipasti in all forms — from olives and pickles to Vitello Tonnato and bruschette. Wonderful with beef — from steaks to stroganoff to tartare or slow-cooked roasts from the oven.
Vinification
Harvested by hand in the first ten days of October (with possible variations depending on seasonal weather conditions). Fermentation and maceration at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, for approximately 3-4 weeks. Ageing for 12 months in large Slovenian wooden barrels, followed by a further 6-9 months in the bottle before the Barbaresco Rizzi is released on the market.
