Barbaresco DOCG 2020 - Fontanabianca

About the wine

Fontanabianca, a home rather than a company. People live here, love here, work here, since 1919, for generations and also together. The founders' children and grandchildren, Aldo and Matteo Pola in the cellar, Bruno Ferro in the vineyard, do it the same today as they used to do. Maybe the wines are a little fresher and leaner, the cellar a little more modern, but that's all. High prices or points are not of interest here anyway. What counts is the typical taste of the autochthonous varieties, Barbera, Dolcetto, Nebbiolo or Roero Arneis - and you would like to add - of the autochthonous people. More regionality is not possible, starting with the simplest wine. And they're so proud of that. And that's why it's so popular and famous!

Tasting note
Bacchus, a wine saint - then there must also be a wine devil! That speaks for it: This wine! The red fruit, security, warm tones, wood too, but it's already lurking there, dirty, so much opaque, dark, tart, herbs, ash peat. On the palate, the warm, red to brown fruit is a maneuver that barely this dark, wicked soul - and that is their feel-good place! - can conceal, rich, deep, impenetrable dark, structured and mineral, mysteriously ambivalent, a warm shower, and the more time you give it, the more detached, out of this world, more transparent and feisty he appears. Great Barbaresco with lots of substance!
