About the wine
Donato d'Angelo is one of the most influential figures in the Monte Vulture wine region in Basilicata southeast of Naples. The original town of Aglianico, originally from the Greeks, shines here. Donato d'Angelo's new top wine, Balconara, comes from the area of the same name, one of the most privileged in the region. Half Aglianico and half Cabernet Sauvignon grapes make this full-bodied, structured class wine, which was vinified in large wooden barrels.
Tasting note
Red ruby The nose has a predominant scent of red cherry, red plum, black pepper and notes of licorice, tobacco and cloves. The palate is dry and full-bodied, with balanced tannins.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpost team recommends this Balconara Basilicata Rosso IGT to accompany Gruyère burgers, ribeye steak and pizza with mushrooms. Our recommendation: The perfect drinking temperature for the red wine is a slightly chilled 16°-18°C. The wine should be enjoyed during this period: now until 2019.
