About the wine
Juan Carlos Vizcarra Ramos, owner of the family business deeply rooted in viticulture, is a passionate winemaker and developer: a true artist of vinification. Carbon maceration and oak barrels from all over the world are intended to make his wines more complex and finer and give them the incomparable Ramos style. This is highly traded: the Wine Spectator ranks Vizcarra among the Ribera del Duero wines directly after Pingus and Vega Sicilia. The vineyards are spread over different areas of land within the Burgos municipalities of Mambrilla de Castrejón and Roa de Duero. The grape variety Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) enjoys clear advantages from the boss and excellent conditions for its growth and maturation in the vineyards. This is also the reason why the wines of this winery stand out from others of this denomination every year. Ramos's daughters are Celia and Inés, as are his wine children: Robert Parker was already carried away by the elegance, opulence and power as well as the fig leaf aroma of Celia (100% Tinto Fino, more than 50 years old) typical of the winery. It was similarly high with Inés, where 90% Tinto Fino (50-year-old) is allowed to marry 10% Merlot in a bulbous bottle.
