Verruzzo 2021 - Monteverro

About the wine

Monteverro is a winery in which nothing was left to chance. After years of searching, Georg Weber has found a suitable spot below the Maremma village of Capalbio, in the immediate vicinity of the sea. A perfect mineral-rich soil of rock and red clay, an always fresh wind, relatively cool nights and warm, sunny days create a perfect environment for the ripening of the grapes. Georg Weber, head and initiator of Monteverro and Technical Director Michael Vögele had looked around all important wine-growing regions worldwide. They then implemented their experiences and findings in the creation of their own wine cellar, with the aim of creating the first Permier Grand Cru in Tuscany. With his young and highly motivated team, Weber has been producing unique and authentic wines ever since, which delight both wine lovers and experts! “Monteverro is one of the most exciting young properties I have come across,” writes Robert Parker.

Tasting note
Dark red with a hint of purple around the edge. On the nose, beautiful explosive notes of fresh fruits such as cherry and blackcurrant with hints of undergrowth and fresh mint. On the palate, the Verruzzo shows round opening notes that develop on a structured mouthfeel to aromas of tomato stalks and blackcurrant. A fresh, pleasant acidity on the finish.

Flaschenpost team recommends this verruzzo to accompany Gruyère burgers, red meat and ribeye steak.
