Pinot Gris AOC Genève 2023 - Siebe Dupf Kellerei

Tasting note
This Pinot Gris pleases with its rich golden yellow with light pink reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe stone fruits, pink grapefruit, red berries, citrus and light floral accents inspire. On the palate, it is powerful and extremely fruity with a slightly creamy flavor, which is underpinned by a refreshing acid structure. The great fruit-acid mix with a slightly sweet tip results in an aromatic and long-lasting finale. A great Pinot Gris from the brotherhood of a Genevan, a Jura and a Basel winemaker.
Culinary recommendation
For an aperitif, with z'vieriplättli, with cheese specialties, hearty starters, fish dishes, light meat dishes, terrines, Asian dishes, asparagus dishes or for pure enjoyment
Vinification
The late frost that swept across the countryside in April 2017 destroyed large parts of Basel's grape harvest. Fortunately, Siebe Dupf Kellerei was able to buy high-quality grapes from friendly winemakers in less affected areas. For example, two exciting wines from outside the canton were pressed at Siebe Dupf in 2017. On the one hand, an elegant Chasselas from the canton of Neuchâtel, which shines with a wonderful fruit and acid balance, and on the other hand, a powerful and refreshing Pinot Gris from the canton of Jura. The two wines were bottled in April 2018 and the team of graphic designers from and Moritz Basel created two great new labels. These symbolize the brotherhood among Swiss winemakers, which came into play after the frost of the century. Due to the great success, Pinot Gris was also produced in subsequent years. In 2021, the Jura was also the victim of bad weather and therefore no Pinot Gris grapes could be harvested there. Fortunately, a friendly winemaker from Geneva stepped in and supplied Siebe Dupf Kellerei with high-quality Pinot Gris grapes. Since the 2022 vintage, the grapes from Geneva and the Jura have now been blended into a Pinot Gris Suisse. The Pinot Gris grapes were picked by hand when they were perfectly ripe and further processed at Siebe Dupf Kellerei in Liestal. After the cool fermentation, it was stored on fine yeast for about 2 months. Biological acid degradation was avoided in order to maintain the necessary freshness in the wine. The expansion took place exclusively in steel tanks.
