About the wine
The vineyards on Pössnitzerberg are predestined as a special white wine terroir. The interplay of soil structure and climate factors makes the Chardonnay wines from the local vineyards so authentic. This wine from Pössnitzberg is one of the winery's rarities.
Falstaff 97
Tasting note
From grapes of old vines from a small, very steep - up to 75% - isolated vineyard on the Pössnitzberg, where there is a small chapel. Harvested by hand, fermented spontaneously and aged in small oak barrels for 30 months. Noble bouquet with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, Nashi pear, white flowers and herbs, framed by mineral-salty chalk notes and perfectly integrated, delicately toasted wood spice. Gripping on the palate, fresh, with a fine texture and a nice melt. Once again, a great balance of fruit, spice and minerality, wonderfully profound and elegant. Reminiscent of a big burgundy.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with elegant fish cuisine and crustaceans, such as skrei fillet fried on the skin with spring and mussel stock. But it also wonderfully accompanies dishes with mushrooms, or white meat and (game) poultry.
