Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Terre di Verona 2020 - Cantina Valpantena

About the wine

The Cantina Sociale della Valpantena is located in the heart of the Valpantena valley northeast of Verona. Founded in 1958 as a cooperative through the merger of several Verona winegrowers, the Cantina Sociale today has around 300 member companies and 600 hectares of vineyards. Mainly the autochthonous Corvina and Rondinella varieties are grown here with a controlled appellation of origin from the Verona hills. Commitment and professional care accompany all production phases, where tradition and technical innovation merge. The excellent quality of the products proves that all the characteristics of the grapes and olives delivered by the member companies are processed in the best possible way by the Cantina Sociale Valpantena.

Tasting note
This typical Amarone is balanced, fruity, rich and long-lasting, garnet red in the glass with a few violet reflections. Its bouquet of dried plum, fig and raisin rises moderately in the nose, complemented by notes of stone fruit and berries. The palate is slightly sweet, fresh and aromatic, quite soft, full-bodied and harmonious. Here, too, it presents its berry and dried fruit notes, as well as hints of clove, pepper and toast, as well as a pleasant aftertaste.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with grilled or fried beef
Vinification
A few words about vinification: The ripe grapes are dried for several weeks. As a result, the juice volume is reduced by up to a third and important flavour-forming processes take place in the grape berries. After slow fermentation, the wine is stored and matured in large wooden barrels and partly in barriques.
