About the wine
Blooming and enchanting landscapes in Veneto give us these grapes, from which the winemaker from the Italian winery Tedeschi conjures up this red wine with refinement and experience. You will definitely have a lot of fun with the fine Amarone Classico Riserva 'Capitel Monte Olmi' DOC, which was produced in 2011.
Tasting note
Monte Olmi, a 2.5 hectare location in the heart of the Classico area, is of prime standing and Tedeschi's eponymous bottling is considered a great classic among Italy's wines. The pergel vines grow on steep slopes with limestone and clay soil. The wine is a blend of 30 percent each of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella and 10 percent of other varieties (Oseleta, Croatina, Forselina, Dindarella, Negrara). The grapes are dried for around four months. During this time, they lose 30 to 40 percent of their volume (water). After all, the yield is 3200 bottles per hectare. The maceration takes 40 to 60 days, the ageing in Slavonian oak barrels for two to three years. Capitel Monte Olmi shows a complex aroma. The wine is reminiscent of cherries and red berries, with a slight woody note. The interplay between alcohol, sweetness and acidity on the palate is tempting.

Vinification
In 1918 Riccardo bought a wonderful vineyard called Monte Olmi in Pedemonte della Valpolicella. The vineyard, 2.5 ha, oriented south-west, is terraced on a steep slope. The enormous steepness prevents water from accumulating during heavy rains, the depth of the mostly loamy-limestone soil structure retains moisture in drought. The grapes are carefully harvested in September, they are dried for 4 months on racks in well-ventilated rooms, losing 30-40% of their weight. This wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation. The maturation takes place in Slavonian wooden barrels for around 36 months.
